The New Synagogue in Breslau/Wrocław (Poland)
The New Synagogue in Breslau/Wrocław (Poland) was designed by Edwin Oppler and constructed in the years 1865–1872 at the crossroads of the present Podwale and Łąkowa Streets. It was a modern synagogue and a true landmark thanks to its characteristic dome surrounded by four towers.

2018 marks the 80th anniversary of the destruction of the synagogue during the “Reichspogromnacht” in Nazi Germany. On the night of 9th November 1938, the New Synagogue shared the fate of many Jewish buildings that were burnt or destroyed as a result of acts of terror and vandalism.

The project devoted to the digital reconstruction of the New Synagogue, elaborated by the Institute of Architecture at Hochschule Mainz, is an important element of restoring the memory of this unique architectural object, both on a local and global scale, using modern digital methods in order to reconstruct destroyed cultural heritage.
